About Us

Caffe Demetre is one of the Greater Toronto Area's (GTA) success stories.  Our first location, Demetre World Class Desserts, the brainchild of founder and President, Gary Steven Theodore, opened for business in the fall of 1989.

 

Caffe Demetre was named so, after the owner's Great Grandfather who ran the Yorkville Candy Kitchen in the early 1900's. The little shop in South Carolina was famous for it homemade ice cream- made primarily in the hot summer months from fresh cream that was brought in by local dairy farmers. The Danforth Cafe soon enjoyed success as Gary Theodore began developing new menus and menu items.

 

Today Caffe Demetre is a family of 12 cafe  locations, scattered throughout the Greater Toronto Area and south western Ontario.  We have cafes in Greektown, Uptown, The Kingsway, North York, Richmond Hill, Burlington, Oakville and Vaughan, Mississauga, Whitby and London.

 

Caffe Demetre stores are owned and operated by dedicated franchise proprietors.  Our company founder, President  & CEO is Gary Steven Theodore

 

Caffe D's is not only a complete desserts concept, offering -perhaps- the largest home-made ice cream menu in Canada and possibly in the world.
