Fitness Depot is the largest retailer of specialty exercise equipment in Canada, with the guaranteed lowest prices in North America. Fitness Depot was founded in July 1993 by Edwin Cameron and Marc Dubois, working from our first location at 40 Ronson Drive in Toronto (still operating).
The warehouse/depot concept was adopted after both founders' involvement with smaller boutique-style fitness outlets had shown such an approach to be unfeasible. Fitness Depot's success is based on keeping its product lines focused and its marketing strategy simple. The majority of the free weight equipment is single-sourced from one company, Northern Lights Fitness Products in Cornwall, Ontario, while most of our cardiovascular equipment is manufactured by Precor, Hebb Industries and Aerobics Inc. in the US.
Fitness Depot has grown to 35 stores across Canada, in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. Our Fitness Depot Commercial Division caters to health club and vertical sector in each of these markets.
By the end of 2004, Fitness Depot surpassed annual sales of $100 million, up from $40 million in 1997. Fitness Depot's five Canadian partners share the vision of expanding the business to a $130 million company over the next three years.
